Podcasting Resources

These links are resources I use to create my podcasts.

Audacity - This free download is the program we use to edit the audio for our podcast. It is an excellent audio editor the podcasters all over the world use. The program is Open Source software, which is growing movement that believes everyone should have the freedom to share programs instead of forcing people to pay for them. The latest version of the free Audacity audio editor for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista: Audacity 1.2.6 installer (.exe file, 2.1 MB)

LAME MP3 encoder - Allows Audacity to export MP3 files.

Creative Commons Audio-
You'll need somewhere to put your recorded audio files on the internet. There's no better place to upload and store them than at the Internet Achive for Creative Commons Audio.

Music for Podcasts
Audio - Creative Commons
Podsafe Music Network - Podsafe is a term used to describe music that is safe for podcasts because it has been released under a Creative Commons license. We got the music for our podcast from this site.
Penmachine Podcast | Free podsafe instrumentals: MP3 demo songs by Derek K. Miller | Vancouver, B.C., Canada
music - Open source music

ccMixter - This is a community music site where you can mix together (remix) your own music. It features remixes licensed under Creative Commons, where you can listen to, sample, mash-up, or interact with music in whatever way you want.
The Freesound Project
- This site has sounds instead of music. They are also released under a Creative Commons license, so they are podsafe in case we want to use them.Add links to songs you think we should use to this wiki page. Click Edit Text. Highlight and copy the link to the song. Switch back to the wiki page and paste it in. After the link, describe the mood of the music or the purpose we would use for this music.

Examples of class podcasts

Room 208 - Bob Sprankle’s class was one of the pioneers of class podcasting.

Publishing License
Creative Commons - This is the license we use to protect our creative podcast. We share our podcast using the creative commons license so others can use some or all of our podcasts, but can’t use it for commercial purposes and must give us credit. We use this to help teach about copyright, intellectual property, and what is legal or illegal to download. We publish our podcasts under a CC3.0 - Attribution, Share-alike, Non-commercial license

Publishing your audio | Creative Commons - It’s very easy to license podcasts with Creative Commons licenses
