Introductions of the Webcasters
Introductions of the Webcasts
I was amazed that Learner Blogs was spawned from an Edtechtalk conversation.
Most of the presentations are a collection of reasons they the webcasters participate in the community.
The questions are:
Tell us your name and what you do?
How did you find out about EdTechTalk?
The Laramie Project full movie
Why do you listen to EdTechTalk?
What kinds of benefits have you found by participating in the community?
Why do you broadcast live?
In terms of your own professional development, what did you gain from the session?
I really felt a personal connection to this presentation because I participate in the EdTechTalk community. I have listened to all of the webcasters at some time or another and participated in the chat during the show.

- How did you find out about EdTechTalk?
- I think I first found out about EdTechTalk from the CoolCatTeacher podcast. Vicki Davis kept talking about the Women of Web 2.0 webcast and how great it was. So, I headed over and downloaded some of their podcasts. I actually thought they were not as good other podcasts I had listened to, because they sounded rather unpolished and “home-grown.” One night I participated in chat while listening to a live show. I have been hooked ever since.
- The EdTechTalk community has some really smart people that I like to listen to. I also like that it is on a regular schedule that I can count on to drop in. I love listening to the interesting guests they invite in to interview. We can give our reactions and questions to what they have to say right in the real-time chat. We can also challenge their assumptions if we feel a need to.
- What kinds of benefits have you found by participating in the community?
- EdTechTalk was where I first got a taste about of what it felt like to be a part of the community. I really like the interaction during the live shows, and get a thrill when I am invited to Skype in with the conversation. I’ve never met any of the members of the EdTechTalk community face-to-face, but I feel like I can call them friends.
- Ray film
- Why do you broadcast live?
- There is something amazing and engaging about having the guest or hosts field questions from the live chat or have someone from the chatroom join the live conversation. I can ask questions and give my reactions in the chat and get the same back from others in the chat. There are some really smart people in the community. I find the instant interaction with these very articulate and encouraging people highly engaging. It is fun on a personal and intellectual level.
What questions did you have after this presentation?
How much time would I need if I wanted to webcast on EdTechTalk?
How do I get on a show?
How will you apply the learning to your professional situation?
I have gotten many ideas and links about how to use technology to in my classroom from conversations and interview on the EdTechTalk channel. I have also learned how to use the tools that I hadn’t even heard of before. I also feel much more informed about what is happening the world of ed tech.
The Boys from Brazil psp What other resources (including reading material) are relevant to this session?
You have to go, listen an participate in the community at http://www.edtechtalk.com/. The schedule for show is right at the top of the page. Show up on time and participate live with the show. Note that time listened are EST.
